Commercial Scale-up and Application Research on Nano-EUO Type Zeolite Passed App

On June 12, 2019 the project “Commercial scale-up and application research on nano-EUO type zeolite” jointly undertaken by the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) and the SINOPEC Catalyst Company,Ltd. had passed the technical appraisal review organized by the Science and Technology Division of the Sinopec Corp.This project has successfully developed a new method for zeolite synthesis via optimizing the dosage of structure directing agent, the pre-crystallization temperature, and the pre-crystallization duration to conspicuously reduce the consumption of template. On the basis of laboratory synthesis, the REI-430 zeolite has been successively tested in the commercial scale-up tests in a 2 m3autoclave and a 10 m3autoclave to display its good repeatability.The REI-430 zeolite prepared in the commercial scale up tests has possessed good catalytic activity for xylene isomerization by surpassing the reference zeolite in terms of the overall catalytic performance.

By using the REI-430 zeolite as the acidic component,the improved RIC-270 type catalyst for C8aromatics isomerization, which has been prepared in an one-tonscale rig, has revealed higher isomerization activity and ethylbenzene conversion activity, while maintaining a lower loss of C8aromatics. After being tested on catalytic stability for 500 hours, this catalyst is delivering products with stable quality that can comply with the environmental protection requirements with its comprehensive performance exceeding that of the existing catalyst.

At present, this technology has applied for 8 Chinese invention patents, among which 6 were granted to RIPP, and 5 Sinopec proprietary technologies with independent intellectual property rights and innovative nature have been filed.
