For these recent years, Chinas cotton industry has been continually suffering a series of unfavorable factors, such as insufficient domestic demand, the shock from import yarns, which make the whole industry trapped in a blue situation. Furthermore, the industry has gradually growing polarization: the good ones, with large-scale operation, innovation in technology and management, unique position for products, maintain good momentum of development; while the bad ones, with capital scarcity, lack of innovative capability, and “commoditization” trap of products, lead to the way on halting production and bankrupt.
Facing the situation, on March 27, 2015 nationwide cotton spinning and weaving conference was held in Kaifeng, Henan province. It offered a great chance for cotton industry to discuss innovative techs, methods, thoughts, and products as well. In this way, Chinas related enterprises could know more about the ideas on a whole year development plan, get help of tech-improvement and then realize adjustment & upgrading.
Xia Lingmin, Vice President of China National Textile and Apparel Council(CNTAC), Zhao Hong, Vice President of China Knitting Industry Association(CKIA), Yuan Jianlong, First Vice President of Textile industry Association of Henan Province, Zhang Songwen, Kaifeng Deputy Mayor, and national cotton and yarn companies, textile machinery enterprises, colleges, and research institutions, etc.
Mr. Xia lingmin presented a speech to the audiences on the conference. He firstly concluded that the overall operating situation of textile and apparel industry in 2014, namely, the “New Normal”stage. Meanwhile, Xia analyzed the situation in 2015, and then noted that under new normal, the industry shows four characteristics and four trends as follows:
Four characteristics:
New normal in China is a slowing and maturing economy.
Structural adjustment is the power to support in industrys healthy development.
Innovation drives the industry progressing in a stable pattern.
Upgrading the domestic consumption structure optimizes the whole industrial market.
Four trends:
To speed up domestic consumption structure upgrading;
To reconstruct the International competition pattern;
To constraint resources and environment;
To conform to the trend of “Internet +”
Road-show for ITMA 2015: The worlds largest textile & garment manufacturing technologies showcase
During the conference, Daphne Poon, Regional Marketing Communications Director of MP Expositions, presented a speech to promote ITMA to the audiences, and welcomed them to attend to the coming edition from 12 – 19, November in Milano, Italy.
Towards a sustainable textile & garment value chain
Charles Beauduin, CEMATEX President, noted that in a worldthat is facing serious problems with the environment, sustainability, ITMA will provide a revevant platform to bridge the providers and buyers of such solutions.
Towards a more sustainable future
Closed loop recycling: The next generation of recycling will appear“closed loop” or “circular textiles” where used raw materials can be recycled to produce fibres.
Waterless dyeing processes: Turn carbon dioxide into liquid form, thus helping to cut hazardous water discharge during garment and textile production stage.
Supply chain consolidation: Global brands increasingly looking to work more closely with carefully selected suppliers which adhere to exacting sustainability standards. A tighter network of trustworthy suppliers is a win-win partnership for both parties.
Fashion retailers eco efforts: support supply-chain transparency specific to forest-fabric sourcing; reworked patterns to increase efficiency and reduce fabric waste; 50 million products sold annually meets Better Cotton Initiative standards; reduced energy use, water consumption, waste generation and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission; to use 100 percent recycled polyester fiber by 2016.
