President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach announced the winning bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games at the 128th International Olympic Committee session in Kuala Lumpur， Malaysia， 2015 July 31st. The International Olympic Committee has chosen Beijing， China， as the host city for the 2022 Winter Olympic games. Beijing is now the first city to  host both the summer and the winter Olympics.

This Winter Olympics has Ice Hockey， Speed Skating， Alpine Skiing and another sport events. All of them， I have a deep love for Ice Hockey. I will introduce to you the wonders of this ice sport.

Ice Hockey is a team sport played on ice， in which skaters use sticks to direct a puck into the opposing team’s goal. Ice Hockey is most popular in areas that are sufficiently cold for natural reliable seasonal ice cover， such as Canada， the northern United States. It is the official winter sport of Canada， where the game becomes popular. With the development of technology， it has become a year-round pastime in these areas.

Ice Hockey is a fast-paced and physical sport. Hockey is the only ball sport where you can fight. Hockey is also unique in that it has an intense rush and can reach a speed of 364 km/h.  Imagine how hard it would be for you to be hit by a solid puck of nearly 1 kg at a speed of over 300 km/h. But these are only the basic requirements for the player， hockey is more about sharp skating and fine reeling movements. At the end of the day you have to carry almost 40 kg of protective gear between the ice and the rink every day.

My favorite player is Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins， his considerable professional success at the age of 23. He won the 2007 Hart Trophy as the National Hockey League’s （NHL） most valuable player and gained the Penguins’ 2009 Stanley Cup championship victory. Crosby says that back in 2005， he was still a member of a young team， and was fortunate to be given a great deal of playing time. He expresses the hope that both he and the Penguins will be improved in five year’s time. Hockey player Vincent Lecavalier expresses admiration for how Crosby has dealt with his status as the NHL’s best-known player.

All in all， Hockey is a dangerous and tiring sport， but one that you can’ t get enough of. This is hockey， the sport of the brave.
