The term“China⁃Chic”characterizes the rise of Chinas native fashion trends. It hasexpanded the concept of“Made in China”, which is usually regarded as the assurance ofthe quality of products. In recent years,“Made in China”has been recognized as the repre⁃sentation of Chinese culture offered by home⁃grown Chinese brands, or simply“China⁃Chic”. The recent years saw the boom of the“China⁃Chic”economy as the number contin⁃ued to rise.
The initial adoption of the term“China ⁃ Chic”represents a unique fashion trendmainly defined by the countrys cultural elements. Designers in the fashion industry werethe first to feature traditional Chinese patterns and characters in their newest collections.The eye⁃catching colors and styles created a visual feast that many people had never seenbefore, quickly turning the collections into best⁃sellers. The impact then spread to other in?dustries, particularly the cosmetic and food industries.
Moving forward, the booming film, television and music industries also increased theappeal of pursuing traditional Chinese style. Their rebranding and promoting of the tradi⁃tional Chinese culture boosted cultural confidence among China’s younger generations.
Under such influence, young people gradually shifted their attention from pop cultureto traditional Chinese art and literature. Many of them have also learnt to dress themselvesup in ethnic garments, complete with accessories and hairstyles.
