Get ready to play in the water of joy. Get wet all over. That' swhat the Dai(傣族 ) people in Yunnan are doing. In Mid-April, it ' stheir Water-Splashing Festival (泼水节 ). People splash (泼 )water on each other.

The Water-Splashing Festival is the Daipeople ' s new year. It lasts (持续 ) three tofive days. The water washes away the dirt andillness (疾病) of the old year. It also brings(带来) happiness(幸福) for the new one!

Long ago, there lived a bad king. No one liked him, but theycouldn ' t kill (杀死 ) him. He was not afraid of (害怕 ) anythingexcept(除了 ) his hair. He had seven wives(妻子). The youngestone was clever.
One day, she killed him with his hair around his neck. Herclothes were full of (充满 ) blood (血 ). People splashed water onthe wife to make her clean. She and other people lived a happy lifeafter that(从那以后 ) .
