Abstract: The relations between the US and other major countries such as China, Russia, Europe and Japan have been negatively affected due to Trump administration’s hard-line and unilateral diplomacy. However, owing to Europe and Japan’s high dependence on the US in terms of geopolitics and security, European countries and Japan follow the United States to adopt tougher policy toward China and Russia. Abstract: Germany and Russia are two important countries in Europe and in the world. Germany’s policy toward Russia is one of its most important foreign policies. In March 2018, the new governments of Germany and Russia came to power one after another. Since the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis in 2014, the relations between Germany and Russia have fallen into the doldrums. Germany’s policy toward Russia faces a dilemma and is committed to the two track path of sanctions and dialogue. There are multiple reasons for this, including domestic, international factors, political, security and economic issues. Germany’s policy toward Russia not only affects the bilateral relations, but also has an impact on Europe and the international relations.

BeltandRoadInitiativevs.Indo-PacificStrategy
ZhangGuihong
Abstract: The Indo-Pacific strategy is a trans-regional security initiative proposed by the United States with the support of Japan and Australia and the participation of India. Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), led by China, is an international development agenda and international cooperation platform. There are a lot of differences in terms of geography, principle, logic, and roadmap between the Indo-Pacific strategy and BRI. The Indo-Pacific strategy focuses on two oceans, emphasizes free and open principle, follows the security logic of geopolitics and strategic competition, and relies on the roadmap of allies and partners. The BRI concentrates on Euro-Asia continent, adheres to the principle of consultation, contribution and shared benefits, highlights interconnection and interworking, and follows the roadmap of cooperation and co-construction. The development of the Indo-Pacific strategy and BRI indicates that the competition between China and the United States has been transformed from the field of interests and influence to the higher level of rule and order.

India-USSecurityCooperation:AChallengetoIndia’sStrategicAutonomy
WangShida
Abstract: India-US security cooperation has been accelerated in the past years. The overall defense cooperation framework has become more comprehensive. The scale of India’s import of weapons from the United States has continued to expand, while the bilateral military exchanges have been more frequent. Since 2014, the Modi’s government has signed two basic military cooperation agreements with the United States, paving the way for further upgrading of bilateral defense cooperation in the future. The anti-terrorism cooperation between India and the United States has strengthened the security cooperation, which has a negative impact on India’s foreign strategy, particularly the long-standing strategic autonomy tradition. It has deteriorated India’s geopolitical environment, which is not conducive to the realization of the Indian Dream.
