An October Sunrise

I was up the next morning before the October sunrise, and away through the wild and the woodland①woodland 英 ['wʊdlənd] 美 ['wʊdlənd] n. The rising of the sun was noble in the cold and warmth of it peeping②peeping n. 偷窥 v. 窥探(peep的ing形式)down the spread of light, he raised shoulder heavily over the edge of grey mountain and wavering length of upland.Beneath his gaze the dew-fogs dipped③dip 英 [dɪp] 美 [dɪp] vt. 浸;下降,下沉, and crept④crept 英 [krept] 美 [krɛpt] v. 匍匐爬行(creep的过去式)to crept to the hollow places; then stole away in line and column⑤column 英 ['kɒləm] 美 ['kɑləm]n. 纵队,列;专栏;圆柱,柱形物, holding skirts, and clinging subtly to the sheltering corners where rock hung over grassland, while the brave lines of the hills came forth, one beyond other gliding.

The woods arose in folds, like drapery⑥draper 英 ['dreɪpə] 美 ['drepɚ] n. 布商;服装商of awakened mountains, stately with a depth of awe⑦awe 英 [ɔː] 美 [ɔ] vt. 敬畏,and memory of the tempests⑧tempest 英 ['tempɪst] 美 ['tɛmpɪst] n. Autumn's mellowr hand was upon them, as they owned already, touched with gold and red and olive, and their joy towards the sun was less to a bridegroom than a father.
