Jiangxi’s Proved Reserve of Copper, Tungsten and Rare Earth Topped 4 Million Ton

The reporter learned from Jiangxi Provincial Geological and Mineral Resource Bureau that Jiangxi’s geological prospecting has made significant progress, copper, tungsten, rare earth, silver, and iron ore varieties have fulfilled Stage 1 target, at present the verified and controlled resource reserve of copper, tungsten, rare earth ores has topped 4 million tonnes.

It has been learned that since the implementation of prospecting breakthrough strategic action, through measures of strengthening organization leadership, reinforcing macro guidance, bringing out the model role of provincial level prospecting fund, and fully mobilizing prospecting units’ initiative, Jiangxi Province fully promoted mine prospecting work, and for the first time incorporated geological work into province-wide national economic and social development “12th Five Year Plan” planning system. Spearheaded by planning, in its promotion of prospecting process, Jiangxi Province closely focused on 5 state-level integrated exploration zones, and 37 key breakthrough zones to determine main mine varieties, and main target types; meanwhile headed by prospecting fund, it mobilized social capital to increase investment, in 2012 the whole province’s social capital invested 750 million yuan in mineral prospecting, accounting for 71% of total prospecting investment in the whole province; starting from integrated prospecting, it solidly pushed forward prospecting work, and made significant progress.

According to relevant news, Jiangxi has made progress in copper, tungsten, rare earth, silver, and terrestrial heat, coal and iron which are urgently needed by Jiangxi Province. The pre-set target of copper mine prospecting has fulfilled 2 million tonnes of resource reserve, up till now it has verified and controlled over 2.50 million tonnes; the pre-set resource reserve target of tungsten mine is 1 million tonnes, up till now the controlled reserve is over 1.50 million tonnes; the pre-set target of rare earth ore resource reserve is 300,000 tonnes, up till now it has topped 450,000 tonnes; the pre-set target of silver ore resource reserve is 1000 tonnes, up till now it has topped 1500 tonnes; the pre-set target of iron ore resource reserve is 200 million tonnes, up till now it has reached 300 million tonnes. Terrestrial heat prospecting has made new progress in Fengxin, Wuning, Fengcheng, and Xunwu.
